If all goes well, Hollywood stars Julie Christie and Judi Dench will visit India to shoot their new film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, produced by Fox Searchlight. And the grapevine has it that the movie — which is expected to be shot in Udaipur or Jaipur — will also star Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is based on Deborah Moggach’s book These Foolish Things. It is expected to go on the floors in October and will have a two- and- a- half- month schedule.
Work on the film has started with the production team looking for the supporting cast in Jaipur.
The crew has already hired a lot of props, including furniture, cabinets, glass, brass, silver items and carpets, from a Jodhpur antique store.
And Rajasthan will continue to remain in the news. The buzz is that Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 4 might also be shot in the state. If that’s true, the film will go on the floors in Udaipur on October 10.
After the two- month schedule is over, the crew will move to Jaipur for another month’s shoot.
Rooms in Shiv Vilas — a fivestar hotel in Jaipur — have already been booked. The hotel authorities also revealed that they had got an enquiry from the production house for bookings in November and December. Nothing, however, is confirmed.
Apparently, the Delhi- based production company I Top has been hired to do line production for Cruise’s film.
