Eunuchs target IT execs on harbour route

Eunuchs have become a major source of nuisance on the harbour stations. They are targetting IT executives who carry hi- tech electronic gadgets like laptops and highend mobile phones are their prime targets.

The modus operandi is to isolate the victims and relieve them of valuables and cash. They hide in the washrooms on nodal side of the station and wait for the victim.

Once someone enters the washroom, the eunuchs surround him and rob him of cash and valuables. Fearing serious consequences, people are reluctant to raise the issue, sources said.

The station, especially the washrooms, have become highly unsafe to be used even during daytime, sources said.

Eunuchs are active even on platform and inside trains during rush hours. Their objective is to anyhow earn money. Innocent commuters, especially the executives, are their prime targets.

" Most of the matters go unreported so as to avoid unnecessary hassles due to subsequent police and legal formalities," said Shyam Kothari, an executive with a multinational company.

" The absence of police personnel at the station is encouraging the anti- social elements," said an IT company executive Milind Parmar.

Though GRP officials are aware of the problem, they cite shortage of staff for their inability to handle the situation.
