Kiran Rao seems to have found the perfect husband in Aamir Khan. The superstar actor has not only helped his wife produce and launch ‘Dhobi Ghat’, he has also acted in it, of course, for free. Kiran isn’t new to films and direction. She was an assistant director in ‘Lagaan’ and knows exactly what goes into a film.
‘Dhobi Ghat’ is her first ever written and directed story and the superstar’s wife has put in a lot of hard work into it. Aamir has done his bit by acting and producing the film, but one thing he has been doing constantly is to promote and praise his wifey dear.
The promos have got the audience all excited for the film and Aamir is leaving no opportunity to appreciate Kiran’s work. He says, “ The film has come out very well. Kiran’s story is about four people and their life in Mumbai. She has shot Mumbai so well, it seems like you can touch it. The film is about moments and has a very real feel about it.” He further adds, “‘ Dhobi Ghat’ is an art film, and art cinema isn’t bad. Kiran has given details to the script which has been shown beautifully and I don’t want to hide that.” The news was that Kiran had treated her husband just like another actor on the sets and didn’t give him less or more importance. And Mr Perfectionist had no problem.
“When I am connected to a film, the director can make me do anything. Even if I am asked to clean the room, I will do that. I have worked in the same manner for ‘ DG’ too,” says Aamir. This Khan ‘ jodi’ is surely one of the most supportive ones. If ‘ Dhobi Ghat’ turns out to be a hit, who knows Aamir might leave the direction to wife and just be happy acting!
