Metro commuters can now recharge mobile phone accounts and pay their cell phone bills through cash transactions at Metro stations.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has installed multi- service payment kiosks at 20 stations where commuters can pay their bills by inserting money into a slot provided on the machine.
DMRC officials say the services on these machines will be upgraded in the coming months to include electricity and water bills, insurance premiums, DTH (direct to home) recharges, booking train, flight and cinema tickets, and tourist packages.
The multi– service machines are currently installed at four Metro stations in the unpaid area — Jahangirpuri, Dilshad Garden, Anand Vihar and Noida City Centre.
Sixteen stations — Rajouri Garden, Rajendra Place, Karol Bagh, R. K. Ashram Marg, Dwarka Mor, Dwarka Sector 9, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Inderlok, Kashmere Gate, Rithala, Yamuna Bank, Akshardham, HUDA City, Central Secretariat and Chandni Chowk — have the machines in the paid area.
The user can type his/ her mobile number from the keypad on the touch screen and proceed with the transaction by inserting the required money into the designated slot, said Metro official.
