The CBI’s closure report on the Arushi murder case is “shocking” and “nothing short of a tale” for the Talwar family, who “refute” all charges.
Nupur and Rajesh Talwar claim that they are yet to receive a copy of the report, making it impossible for them to specifically comment on the charges levelled by the agency against Arushi’s father.
“Whatever has been reported about the CBI’s closure report is shocking and false. We are still waiting for the copy of the report before giving our exact comments on the matter, which should be in a day or two,” Rajesh said. The Talwars’ legal counsel, Rebecca John, confirmed the development.
“We refute all charges and are going to the court on Monday. We will ask for a copy of the full report filed by the CBI. The media believes that the 20- 30 page report is complete. “ But that is actually just a part of the full report, which comprises around 200 pages,” John said.
She said the Talwars’ legal team will study all the allegations and the basis on which they have been made by the investigation agency. They will then file a “strong denial” of all suggestions of Rajesh Talwar’s involvement in the murder. “As we see it now, these allegations are all outrageous. There are many fallacies in the CBI’s arguments which have been reported in the media (about Rajesh Talwar’s role in the murder),” the lawyer said.
She added: “The CBI’s version of events about what happened after the murder is a fairytale attempt to save themselves by making allegations and floating theories without any supporting evidence.” The Talwars have said they felt “let down” by the CBI investigation and its “loose allegations”. The family intends to keep all its legal options open.
