Anwar is the tale of youngster who is attracted to the tangles of terrorist activities, written and directed by Amal Neerad who has worked with actors Mammootty & Mohanlal. Amal Neerad has handed the script well by himself and Anwar would be boost to the career of Prithviraj.
Story of Anwar goes around a guy played by Prithviraj who is an educated guy falls into terrorist activities based on religion. The movie tells about the unending clutches that surround the young man when he plans to get out of them some how. It also debate on viewpoints and on how one man's right remains the wrong path for many others.
The film also star National Award-winning Tamil actor Prakash Raj as a determined police officer in hot pursuit of a band of terrorists and actor/producer/director Lal, as a religious leader who recruits men for his activities. Mamtha Mohandas too is paired for the first time opposite Prithviraj for this movie. Scripted by R Unni and Sreejith D, the movie is cinematographed by the director himself.
Prithviraj who even injured himself while working on an action scene for the movie is in all praise for the director. The young actor believes that the movie which connects well with the young generation is all set to do well.
Anwar touches the sensitive topic and it shall be watched for the performance of Prakash Raj & Prithviraj.

Anwar is one of the best shot malayalam movies ever . Amal neerad who created block busters earlier with our super stars has tried his luck with probably the next big super star of malayalam film industry "Prithviraj".The direction has been handled pretty cleanly by him making sure that there are'nt any flaws in it and to a great extend he is succesful . The story is also by him , which actually discusses one of the important issues of our time . For the reason that the movie discusses a sensitive issue dialogues have been framed carefully and most of the time they are quite catchy . The cinematography of this movie is so superb .And now for the performances in the movie , Prakash Raj remains the stand out performer of this movie ,prithvi and lal has also come up with great performances but its hard for them to match the potential of this amazing actor .The chemistry between Prithvi and Mamtha has also worked well for the movie . The music of this movie, alredy chart busters, has been very well complimented with the visuals . Gopi sunder has again done a great job with the background score ,which always keeps the movie lively .And i cannot complete this review without mentioning the narrator ... its our own superstar MAMMUKKA who makes sure that the movie starts with a great roar.Altogether the movie is an entertainer that wont let you down for spending Rs 45 and 2.5 hrs of your day .

i cant agree with anyone who says this film is gud.it would've been better if it was done by mohanlal or mammukka...pridviraj was not able to handle the stylish dialogue styles of amal neerad.i watched the movie first day and even pridviraj fans didnt like the movie and theatre was full of jeers

Fascinating film. Prithviraj is at his best ever. I think if it was handled by some superstars of yesteryears like Mohan lal or Mammotty the film would have been a thorough flop. I cannot imagine their sagging figures in this dyanamic role. The most positive aspect of the film is the undisputable performance of Prithviraj and the support given to him by Prakash raj, Lal and Mamata. Amal Neerad is also on his way to a super stardom as a director.

I saw the film today. The script has some flaws in the second half. But Prithviraj gives an amazing performance. He carries the film all by himself. Maniratnam or Amal Neerad or Joshi- he gives his best, I think.
This is really a bad movie From Prithwiraj ,I just watched the first show ,NOBODY likes this ,PRITHWIRAJ is realy oring now ,Even Prithwi fans dont like this movie .A GREAT FLOP FROM PRITHWI .
But Mr.Anwar we are coming to see this only because of U ,but dont think that WE WILL SUPORT ALL YOUR MOVIES ONLY for your ULTRAMOTION WORKS ,we need ACTING .Better TRY once again with Lalettan and Mammootty ,Suresh Gopi is also there ,I think he will suite more .
Anyway we will never forget SAJ .

It's a realistic movie. I give an OK for the film. But please do not see it with much expectations. It's still worth watching.
Watched the movie 2 days before........its a real action packed entertainer......and prithvi has done really well.....i think this is one of the best action movies he has acted.....and the cinematography by satheesh kurup is tooo good...........also the background music by gopi sundar....the young team has delivered really well.......AND amal neerad rockzzzz with his stylish direction........congrats to the entire crew of this movie !!!!!

Fabulous film. PRITHVIRAJ ROACKS.....Neither Mammootty nor mohan lal ever looked so great in the screen even in their Golden days. Now there is only one superstar in Malaylam-PRITHVIRAJ! If Mohanlal or Mammootty still want to do such roles they must surely watch this movie several times to pick up a couple of tips about timing and control...
trailor was highly impressive..........amal has the stuff to create highly competent movies with pritwi like young stars, like tamil or hindi flicks, provided he does only one job at a time. please do only direction. let the script be by someone good.

from some comments saying lalettan, mamookka or suresh gopi (oh my god!!!!!)should have done the role we can assume the iq level of people who commented against the movie.. i think movie is superb.. better than any action malayalam flick.. it is really tough to put elsamma/sathyan anthikad type story in action movie.. if you find flaw in the script 20-20 also had a senseless story... so please making stupid comments and just enjoy the movie... fully paisa vasool....
Finally, I watched the film. Oh, Man...what a film. Can't belive this is in Malaylam. Superb. I read comments above. Perceptions can differ. But I too belive that Prithviraj seems irreplaceable in this role. And he does it with elegence and style. Good film and good and responsible acting by all artists.

I dont think it is necessary to belittle great actors like Mohan Lal or mammootty to appreciate Prithviraj. Prithviraj's style is different from them and he is simply superb. In this film also he has done very well. Belittiling his talent to glorify the other actors is also mean. Their fans do this because they are feeling insecure as he grows. Let us all agree that Lal and Mammoootty are great old actors and Prithviraj is a young and new star with great talents. His fans and fans of others need not quarrel with each other.
