Delhi University (DU) on Tuesday announced its revised examination schedule for its 13 undergraduate science courses.
The revised dates were uploaded on the university’s official website on Tuesday evening. Theory examination will be held from January 4.
Following directives of the Delhi High Court, DU has increased the number of academic days in the first semester to give colleges opportunity to make up for the time lost because of strikes.
But with teachers resorting to strikes that resulted in the loss of over 16 teaching days, much of the syllabus was still left to be covered. So the university postponed the theory exams to December 6.
“ In order to compensate for the loss of teaching days, the principals of colleges may organize teaching on Saturdays and Sundays,” the circular states.
According to the revised calendar, the first semester has been extended by 20 teaching days. Dates of the practical examination have been rescheduled from December 14 to 24. Theory examinations, which were to begin on December 6, will be held from January 4 to 14.
This comes in the backdrop of DU teachers protesting against the semester system.
