Dhobi Ghat Review, Rating : It fails to Impress

The wife of the actor who is termed as most talented in India cinema does not come as one of the most talented director of Bollywood. Dhobi Ghat was clearly trying to cash on the star power of Aamir Khan, however the only thing which brings success here is the good movie as 'Junta Janardhan' is educated and wise enough to choose between good and bad. Aamir Khan is known to publicize his movies in a different way all the time and this time it was no different, a latest act was to call th press conference just before the release and apologize to the Dhobi's of Mumbai in case he has hurt anybody's feeling or sentiments by naming the film 'Dhobi Ghat'.

Before its release, it was put in the league of movies like Lagaan, 3 Idiots and Taare Zameen Par, however it fails to fulfill all the promises made. It is an 95 minutes without any breaks and songs which is about 4 unrelated characters who happen to discover each other accidentally and then continue leading their lives just as they were before.

Aamir Khan plays Arun, a smoker and artist who has an one night stand accidentally with Shai (Monica Dogra), an NRI investment banker who wants to capture 'poor India, hungry India'. Shai get involved in shooting a portfolio for her Dhobi Munna (Prateik Babbar) who has aspirations to become an actor. In the mean time, Arun fells in love with Yasmin (Kriti Malhotra), whose depressing story is filmed in abandoned tapes that he discovers in his newly rented apartment.

The story moves around these characters, actually there is no story after than as it seems the writer-director Kiran Rao forgot to write the rest of the story after describing the characters of the fim. It was a great idea to bring different characters of different profession on to the same platform, however I'm afraid to say that idea was not executed to the mark.

If you want to watch it, just watch it for Aamir Khan and the new lad Prateik Babbar.

Rating - 2.5 / 5

'Dhobi Ghat' is surely not for the masses as clarified by Aamir when he said, 'I have to inform them that if you are looking for an entertaining film, a lot of dhamaal, action, thrill and fast pace, then this film is not that. I believe the film is made for an audience who are maybe more interested in music, art, painting, poetry, reading or people who want to try something different.'

You are one of them.. Ha ha.. Its a masterpiece..! U wont understand that..
